We adopted

Please ignore the odd expression on my face.  It was hot and sunny.
Animals that is!  A few months ago I adopted 2 baby ducks.  I had really meant to post about it a while ago and never did.  The brown with yellow stripes is Coco and the yellow sitting next to her is Chanel.  The third duck in the box is blind and belongs to the lady I work for.  Coco and Chanel live out in the country with 4 other duck friends including the partially blind little girl.
Coco and Chanel hanging out in the pool.

Ducks grow pretty fast!  Look how big they are now!! Oddly enough they will not swim in the pond unless someone is out there with them.  Silly ducks!
All 6 ducks together.

The duck flapping his wings is Rascal and she is every bit of her name!  Shortly before this picture was taken there were 5 ducks in the pool till she chased them out!  She prefers to be Queen of the Pool.  All the ducks like to stick together, but they do socialize with hens and turkeys.

Melinda and second puppy.
Yesterday we also added a new member to our little family.  Her name is Penelope, or Penny for short.  Isn't she precious?!  She has a pretty heartbreaking story for being so little.  This past Saturday, when it was over 100 degrees here in Indiana,  one of the ladies I work with was driving along a country road and found her and another little puppy just wondering about.  She being the animal lover that she is just could not let them stay there.  Since this was a country road she was surrounded by corn and soy bean fields, not a house anywhere near.  She brought  them home and took very good care of them over the weekend.  I am happy to report that the second puppy, which we believe is a German Shepard, went home with Melinda the same day.  We believe that Penny may be a purebred black lab.  I did a little internet searching and found a lab breeder not far from where Penny was found who had a litter of pups posted for sale that would be the right age range.

This is from earlier today.  She does a lot of napping right now with bursts of energy every couple of hours.  That is food next to her head, not poo, for those wondering.  We have a vet appointment later today to get her checked out and make sure everything is fine.

On a side note, our cats have mixed feelings on Penny.  Amadeus, our black cat, has done a lot of watching and sniffing.  Sebastian, our white cat, has done a lot of starring with some meowing and hissing.  He did the same things when we first brought Deus home too.

**This is the exact same post as on my other blog The Adoption Project, which is to chronicle our journey to adopting our family.
