By my fabric usage tracker at the top it should be pretty clear that I love fabric! I know I have mentioned it before, but it really is a problem. I don't think that I can technically say I am a fabric hoarder since I do use it. I just have a problem buying more than I could possibly use at any one given time. This past week was no exception to that! First,
Elliot Berman Textiles have been doing some trivia giveaways on their Facebook page and I won! My prize was 1 yard of this luxe Missoni fabric above that arrived on Wednesday. I am not sure what I am going to make with it yet. It will probably be a top of some variety since it is only a yard.
Then Fabric Mart just had to send me an email about their clearance fabrics. I checked it out and wouldn't you know I found some that I liked. I bought 1.5 yds of
gray cotton/poly leopard burnout at $1.99 a yard and 3 yds of
pink and black plaid gabardine at $1.00 a yard. The cotton is going to be used to make my TNT top
McCall's 5436. The plaid will be a dress of some variety!
But then at the very last second I threw a 10 yard mystery bundle in my cart. I am pleased to say this one was a good one. I ended up with almost 12 yards of fabric it it. There is 3 yards of a red knit, 2 yards of a creamy crepe back satin, 2.75 yds of a lemon yellow burnout cotton, 2.25 yds of a burgandy wool crepe and 1 7/8 yds of the lemon lime knit. I could not believe that lemon lime print was in there. You may recall I made a short version of the
Sierra Mist dress so that I could make a swimsuit out of it as well. Now I have more than enough of this print. I think that I may have to save it for a giveaway!

On a fabric usage note, I did finally make a costume piece! It was not for Eric or I surprisingly. It was for someone Eric works with. He is a part of a polka band called The Alpine Express and way back in October, yes I said October, he asked Eric if I could make him a shirt like Eric's ren faire chemise. I said I would and then proceeded to do a whole lot of nothing about it! Last week I finally decided to get it off of my sewing table and I am happy to share the results! For this shirt I used
Butterick 4486 in view B. I ended up using 4 yards of white Kona cotton. It ended up looking great and the recipient loves it too. He loves it so much that I will shortly be making 2 more for the additional 2 members of the band. Plus I was asked to come up with something in the traditional Bavarian blue and white checks. That may have to wait a bit, but I am thinking about it.
Great fabric haul!!
