Wishlist of the Moment

There are a few things I have been wanting to make recently that require some items that I do not have!  I don't quite have the money to splurge on all of these things right now but I wanted to share my sewing wishlist with you all!

1.  The Baby Lock Coverstitch/Serger.  I have a serger and it works well, but I really really really want a coverstitch machine!  Since using an industrial version I now know how much this comes in handy.  It is so much easier to coverstitch than to serge and hem.  Unfortunately, this convenience comes with a price tag of $700.

2.  Iron on vinyl! On my to sew list is a raincoat, however I have not been able to find any oilcloth that I love for this project.  The iron on vinyl will solve that problem!  I now just need to find the perfect fabric and I can then convert it to an oilcloth!  While this is not super expensive,  I just haven't found the right fabric yet to try it.  With that I think this project is going to be on the back burner for a while.

3.  The 160th Anniversary Singer.  While this is just a basic machine, I think it looks so cool.  That is really the only reason I want it.  But once again, with the price tag of $400, it won't be happening anytime soon.

4.  A multi-functional cutting table.  This one is from Pottery Barn and over $1000.  It is not exactly what I want but it is what sparked my idea.  I love the cubby shelves on each side and I am sure I could put together my own version very similar to this.  This one is not really a matter of cost but more a matter of space.  My sewing room needs a major organization overhaul and this would be only a small part of the solution.

5.  Purple velvet shorts.  This look is from Vivianne Tam's spring '12 collection and I have been dying for it ever since I saw it.  I found the perfect purple velvet too.  Now it is just a matter of purchasing it.  It shouldn't be to expensive, but I keep thinking Do I really need more fabric?  Yes, I think the answer is yes.  But just for these shorts!

  1. I bet that between ikea or Target and the lumber store you could put together that table pretty cheaply.

  2. I feel the same way about the anniversary Singer! I showed my husband and he was all, "So basically they're charging you $300 to paint it black and gold." I would also totally love the serger and table...sigh.

  3. If you can get that babylock for $700 its a steal. They are usually a lot more than that. My Janome was about that at half the price of the Babylock. The Janome works fine and you can use the binder attachment with it, but there is not little table like there is with the Babylock so everything feels crushed in.
