First Fabric Purchase

It is the end of April and I just made my very first fabric purchase of the year.  I think 4 months of no fabric buying is pretty darn good for me, all things considering.  Not that I need anymore fabric, but buying fabric really is like an addiction for me.  I was going through withdrawals!  I very often perused the fabric at Jo-Ann's just to touch it.  I stalked Fabric Mart and Fabric.com just to see what was new.   All throughout I remained strong and did not purchase a single bit of fabric.  I had to keep reminding myself that in February I acquired 163 yards for free and that with a total of over 600 yards in my stash I had absolutely no reason to want to buy more.  Then today I read Carolyn's post about her new 10yds of Polyester Ivory Crepe from Fabric Mart and I was instantly craving to see what else they had.  So, like any good addict, I went to check it out.  They have some great stuff on sale right now.

First I got 3 yds of this fun lemon lime stretch knit.  It totally reminds me of Stella McCartney's citrus print collection from last season. I foresee another maxi made from this.  I have really been admiring Cindy from Cation Designs, whimsical print dresses and have been wanting to make one of my own.  I had just never found a print that struck me until now!  Now I just have to figure out what pattern i want to use!  This is probably going to be my first project when this fabric arrives!

Next I got 1 yard of each the brown plaid and the black and white plaid.  These are going to become new vests for Eric.  I am in love with plaids and I think a couple of plaid vests would suit him nicely!

I also got 2.5 yds of this lightweight peach knit. This reminds me ballet warm-up gear, so I am going to make some sort of wrap sweater from it.  I am thinking that some matching satin ribbon will be involved somewhere with it.  Not exactly sure of the how or what yet, but I was thinking this would be more fall wardrobe so I have some time to think about it.

Have you had any fabrics that were calling your name lately?  Did you give in and purchase them or did you stay strong and resist the temptation?   Talk back to me, I want to know what everyone else is buying right now!

  1. Heh...fabrics are always calling my name, and I usually don't bother resisting...

I'm so honored to be an inspiration with my ridiculous prints! I am excited to see this Sierra Mist dress! You know, because SM is lemon lime soda...okay I'll stop now.
